A Nice Day At Cave Run Lake

Michelle and Matthew had a great time today at Cave Run Lake. We caught smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, and bluegills. It was a great day to be on the lake with family.

Michelle & Melody Meet Taylor Swift

Michelle Hall & Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift & Melody Hall

Fans of country music star Taylor Swift lined up the Wal-Mart in Richmond yesterday for autographs and photos. One fan after another would tell the young star "You are awesome", "Your music is great", "You are beautiful", "I love you", "You are my favorite singer", and so forth and so on. When it was Michelle's and Melody's turn to meet her, Melody was honest when saying "We came in to get some Diet Pepsi, saw you here, and thought we might as well say hey." Taylor loved it and laughed a lot, told my girls that THEY were awesome, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting them.

Michelle was particularily thrilled with getting a photo with Taylor. She has seen the photos of big sister Melody with Bill Clinton, Paul Patton, and other famous politicians that were taken recently. Michelle told me that this is the first photo she has ever had taken of her with a famous person. I told her that she was wrong, that we have many photos of the two of us together. She emphatically informed me that those don't count.

Horsemen Arena Football

We spent Sunday afternoon at Rupp Arena. Normally when you think of a sporting event being held at Rupp, basketball would be the game. Sunday it was Lexington Horsemen Arena Football.

Matthew had a ball, in fact he caught a game football and brought it home as a souvenir. Like at a baseball game, if a fan catches the ball during the game, they can keep it. It was the first arena football game we had seen. We had a good time and will go back again.

Parking Meter Solution

I played a gig a couple of weeks ago at the Otis A. Singletary Center For The Arts. When I pulled up next to the building to find a place to park and unload my stuff, I was pleasantly surprised to find a bagged parking meter with my name on it. How convenient! You know you've made the big time when you see your name bagged on a parking meter.

Loading and unloading is much easier when one has such a great parking place. It also made for free parking! This experience gave me a great idea. I'm going to print up a sign similar to the one pictured above and put it to use on parking meters at future gigs. I plan to use it often. I wish I had thought of this years ago.

The Legends Game Was A Bargain

Last night Matthew and I went to watch the Lexington Legends play minor league baseball. We bought the cheapest tickets available. They were $1 each. We each received the free toy car they were giving away at the door. When we entered the stadium we learned that it was 25 cent hotdog night. We took advantage of the situation! Koby Clemens, son of the great Roger Clemens, hit his first home run of the year. It was a good time that didn't hurt the wallet.

Easter In Maysville Kentucky

Many celebrities enjoy dining at Caproni's. Inside the Rosemary Clooney room, a wonderful collection of autographed plates is displayed at the bar.

I play in the main dining room where an awesome buffet was set up for Easter dinner. Pictured above is the swan ice sculpture and some of the best tasting shrimp that can be found anywhere.

Chairman of the Kentucky Democrat Party Jerry Lundergan enjoyed the day at Caproni's. A few weeks ago he introduced me to President Bill Clinton and told me today that he wants me to meet and play music for Hillary Clinton when she visits Kentucky.

A beautiful view of Maysville's train station can be enjoyed from the main dining room. Following an Easter church service, a visit to Maysville's Caproni's makes for a wonderful day.

Inflow & Outflow Of Money

Driving home tonight from my jazz gig at Giuseppe's it dawned on me that something just isn't right. My daughter Melody is enjoying herself in Florida on Spring Break and son Matthew, daughter Michelle, and wife Sharon are are living it up in Gatlinburg in a chalet for the weekend. I was left home to work. I just finished working my gig tonight, am teaching lessons in the morning, and am gigging Saturday and Sunday. As I drove home I thought about the flow of money. This weekend there is an inflow from one member of this family and an outflow from the other four! It seems to me that the spending should be evened up somewhat. Perhaps I should stop by Circuit City on the way to my gig tomorrow.
